LNG Canada Tank Insulation
KAEFER was engaged by CB&I to undertake insulation & cladding services for a spherical tank as part of the LNG Canada Project.
Our Scope
- Cryogenic insulation (PIR) and cladding of the 17.5m diameter spherical tank
As the tank required transportation to Canada, it could not be completely insulated in Thailand (approximately 20% of works to be completed on-site in Canada prior to final commissioning). This presented challenges in terms of developing a bespoke cladding design. Working in collaboration with insulation technical experts from across the globe, the KAEFER Thailand team developed a solution that added additional insulation support rings at the bottom of the structure and used sacrificial layering to support the use of screws and rivets.
Works were successfully completed to the client’s satisfaction.
